Melbourne Delight

Tacky title but I really can’t think of anything else to write……. Oh well. I’ve had the opportunity to do some fun work here in Melbourne and have actually photographed some.

First up is Sri Ganesh on Sandy – the photo’s didn’t come out so well but I liked this shot and it does show the detail so I thought I’d include it in this post.

Chris came in and had a bug mandal and bee done – I  loved doing this and hope he is happy with the result.

A lucky chance brought in this piece as Leonie was ill therefore I stepped in and redrew a sketch brought in by the customer.

Another piece of luck as Richie came in off the cuff at Tattoo Magic and I had him come in twice and we did these pieces – in the bottom photo the tattoo is a week old and almost all healed up.

Kapitan Voodoo aka Fat Knee Nik had this colour mandala jabbed on to his, later swollen, knee. I’ll get a healed shot of this soon with any luck as I’m going to be doing the other knee.

Amy had an islamic inspired mandala on her feet – she changed her mind halfway through and went without colour – no problem.

Kayci had a colourful seahorse with mandala done – it almost matched her hair at the time (not shown but believe me)…..

Sam had his first tattoo – ‘Eyes’ he said…..

Miss Cutie-Kills had a fun traditional mermaid doing. Nice and bright…..

Paul wanted a simple origami swan – nice one mate.

Paints and Patterns

I learnt to do watercolour painting while on my trip to New Zealand with help from Ben Raddatz and Naomi Smith – to both of whom I shall be ever greatful. I really enjoyed the medium and shall undoubtedly be driving folks mad, leaving bits of badly and cheaply painted artworks scattered behind me as I travel…… Anyway here are some of my efforts I’ve tried to paint what number each one is onto it so you can laugh at my progress  keep tabs on them…… They’re not in order in this gallery.

Long Time Coming

Well I’m afraid it has been the longest gap in my updates that I’ve had since the start of this blogsite. I must apologise but so much has happened and I’ve been to so many places since the last entry. The best thing that has happened is that I got engaged to my lady who has made me incredibly happy and has been the best travelling companion I could have as well as being my perfect support network in all of this – thanks Kay I love you.

Anyway soppiness asides I have actually been doing some tattoos and so here are a bunch of them:

Continued Travels

So it’s been a while again….. Since my last update I’ve been in San Francisco, (where I witnessed two of my closest friends get married – congratulations Chad and Erin), where I worked at Idle Hand Tattoos on the Lower Haight. I only did a few days there as I was out with my friends helping them honeymoon by travelling to Big Sur but here’s a piece:

After this it was up to Seattle to hang with the awesome Slave to the Needle crew (and Mr and Mrs Kiwi-Lloyd) which was a fantastic experience – rarely is one made to feel so welcome by such amazing artists. Needless to say I had a great time…. I was only working for a couple of days but did a mega session on Mark which resulted in this ‘add around’ half sleeve:

In San Diego I had Santi who I’d met in Edinburgh and we managed to hook up and disrupt my week off with an afternoon with the folk from Seven Seas Tattoo – champions all these guys too…… Thanks too to Santi. Picture is from his iphone so it looks a bit zany if you ask me.

That was the last of the USA for us and now we’re off to New Zealand. Thanks to everyone who we hung out with and especially to those who let us invade their studios and homes. You all rule!

A Long Needed Update

I’ve been slack with my updates – travelling makes it hard to keep up with post on here so I apologise. Here are a few photos from the last few weeks:

Circus Tattoo Madrid:

Three Kings:

Eye Candy:

All of these studios have been great and are fantastic folks. I’ve been overwhelmed by the friendly, welcoming nature of every one of them. I hope to be back in the not too distant future. Thanks so much to the customers for coming along and of course all of the guys and girls at the studios – you ALL rule!

Idle Hand San Francisco here we come!

Idle Hand
