Easter Beasts

It’s always nice to have folks come back in to show their healed pieces, Matthew came in to show me how his Foo dogs healed up this week, and they’re looking great amongst the regrown arm hair.

Scottish Tattoo Convention 2014

Last weekend was a busy one, tattoo talk with visiting buddies from around the globe, and a little bit of tattooing too.

The Scottish Tattoo Convention is always a friendly one, was great to be back after missing out last year while I was away travelling.

It was a full on weekend, I only booked in 2 pieces to give me plenty of time for chatting and a little time for judging – some very hard decisions to be made for best of show.

I made progress on Tom’s crazy aperture sleeve and gave his good lady some very sore feet.

Thanks to Jim and all the gang for putting on another great show.

There were a few late nights this week getting some other pieces done in the shop, after unpacking after the convention.

There’s a couple of pieces still in progress

As promised, I’m off guest spotting soon, extremely excited to be working beside Deno again and with the excellent Jondix and Claudia De Sabe, real honour to share space with these guys.

I only have a few spaces left at Seven Doors, so Londoners get on to me quickly.

Drop me an email themrzigzag@gmail.com for bookings.

Red, Hot & Blue

After a great trip to the States in February, getting more done to my own tattoo by Thomas Hooper in Austin, and a brief guest spot with the awesome 2Spirit Tattoo in San Francisco, I’m finally settling down for a while back in Edinburgh.

I’ve been busy getting started on some bigger projects for the past couple of weeks, along with some fun one shots.

I’m excited to be back with the old team, but I’ll still be travelling about for guest spots and conventions regularly.

Speaking of which, you can read all about my travelling in this months issue of Total Tattoo Magazine.

Auld Reekie

I have been at Red Hot and Blue in Edinburgh, Scotland for the last few weeks where I have been being kept busy. It’s always a great shop to work in with a diverse clientele as well as being in a great city. Here’s some of the stuff I’ve been doing:

Liverbirds and Traditional Swallows

I was lucky enough to have spent the better part of a week at Forever True Tattoo in Liverpool working alongside the inspirational and perfectly gentlemanly Richie Clarke, not forgetting the diamond geezer known as Paul on the front desk. The studio is a great place with the walls covered in great Traditional Western Style flash – much of it painted by Richie himself which gives the place a really classic feel. Both of the guys here went out of their way to be helpful and make a true welcome to their studio.

While I was there I got to do a few very fun pieces on some lovely clients all of whom I’d like to thank for coming along and getting tattooed. Here are a few of the pieces I did, some of which are Traditional Western Style which was great fun to do and much less strain on my eyes for sure! Oh yes – I also tattooed Richie’s palm which was an honour and may I say a pleasure? Ha ha…..

Little Mandalamaids and Cats Covens

This week was spent in beautiful Copenhagen in Denmark where I was working at The Sailors Grave with Zooki, Jesper  and of course Judd and Marija Ripley. They have a lovely bright spacious studio and  I was happily given all I needed to settle in after a friendly welcome. These guys and gal sure know how to knock out some top notch tattooing. I was kept busy doing more mandala and other patterned stuff. I got to catch up with an old pal Leigh who has relocated to Copenhagen and we also caught up with our pals from Skindred as they were passing through town on tour. Oh and of course we went to see the Little Mermaid statue…..

Here is a sample of the stuff I did whilst at the shop – thanks for looking.

Eurotrash and Style

Quick catch up on the past few weeks in Europe, I’ve been busy tattooing in some great studios, feeling extremely welcome and grateful.

First stop on the trip was Graz at Lightbearer Tattoo, great bunch of folks and some lovely customers in a beautiful city.

Next up was Mystery Tattoo Club in Paris, an inspirational bunch and again a warm reception from the Parisian customers. I got to do some fun stuff here and also my wife was more than happy to discover a gluten-free Patisserie right around the corner which was delicious and sinful I’m sure!

I shall certainly be visiting these great cities in the not too distant future…..
