Hello and Happy New Year!
I know that is a bit past the sell by date but then I’ve been pretty terrible at this blog yet again but I feel, in some way, that I have some sort of excuse. I’ve been very busy for the last few months setting up my own new private tattoo studio in Leith, Edinburgh which has taken all of my attention and energy but has been totally worth it.
The studio is called and is located at:
89 Henderson Street, Leith, Edinburgh, EH6 6ED
The studio is a wonderful, bright, open space with fantastic views along the Shore, it is, as mentioned, a private appointment-only studio accessed through a residential stairway meaning that, although visitors are welcome it is best to contact us first before coming along.
Here are some photographs of the studio build from start to finish.
I would very much like to thank Splintr for the interior design concept, Bryden Firth Joinery, MS Flooring, Sorell Furniture, Sean Brown Plumbing and Heating , Ryan O’Malley Electrician and Keith Wood Painting and Decorating for all their hard work and fantastic service – these guys have been brilliant each and every one.
If you want to book in or for anything else please email: email@example.com

Kate was very dedicated to her tattoo as she is to her Christian faith, the tattoo is all based within Croatian Christian symbols and the concept of the trilogy. It was an immensely satisfying project. The Polynesian piece on the lower arm was done by the infamous Phil Cummings.

I’ve had some very interesting projects finally completed in the last few weeks – I decided that it’s far more interesting to put up complete works rather than ‘in progress shots’ which will probably work better with my slack blog updating schedule.
First up is Ian who has been having this top of arm/chest geo piece done over the last few months and I’m quite happy with the results and I hope he is too.
Mary has been very regular in her appointments meaning that we got this sleeve completed relatively quickly. I tried to keep this piece light and delicate to an extent to suit her light frame.
Apologies for the blood patch on this but we were pushed for time at the end of the session so the young lady could catch her bus back to Aberdeen.
We finally finished Nicole’s backpiece with a simple dotwork motif – having been tanning herself and some of the tattoo is 9 months old makes the picture look a little unbalanced.
A fun bit of Sacred Geometry for Daniel – apparently it was from an old book cover.
Lastly this was a bit of a test – 5 freehand bands around the arm with a small Arabic pattern cartouche – although I was nervous about doing this I really enjoyed it in the end.

Couple of Convention updates, I’ll be at the Evian Tattoo Show on 24th-26th October and the Brussels Tattoo Convention on 7-9th November.
Hopefully see you there. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for enquiries.
Last week at Lew and Danny both travelled up from down south to get tattooed in Edinburgh.
Lew sat for a whole day to complete his abstract geometric sleeve.
Danny stuck it out for two and a half days for his lady Odin and mandala half sleeve and chest panel, which I was really happy with the result of.
It’s interesting to note that the larger more complex projects are coming from clients travelling from down south, and I reckon it’s time that the Scots step up!

It’s always nice to have folks come back in to show their healed pieces, Matthew came in to show me how his Foo dogs healed up this week, and they’re looking great amongst the regrown arm hair.
I finished off Beth’s feet this week, so now they are a pair.
I also finished off Alex arm with a bit more dotwork and another mandala.
And a simple dotwork diamond for Kelly.
I’ll be off work for a few days next week for a routine operation, and then I’ll be away to London for my guest spot at Seven Doors.
I’m taking bookings for Edinburgh for May and June, as always email email@example.com or pop into Red Hot & Blue Tattoo to book.
Last weekend was a busy one, tattoo talk with visiting buddies from around the globe, and a little bit of tattooing too.
The Scottish Tattoo Convention is always a friendly one, was great to be back after missing out last year while I was away travelling.
It was a full on weekend, I only booked in 2 pieces to give me plenty of time for chatting and a little time for judging – some very hard decisions to be made for best of show.
I made progress on Tom’s crazy aperture sleeve and gave his good lady some very sore feet.
Thanks to Jim and all the gang for putting on another great show.
There were a few late nights this week getting some other pieces done in the shop, after unpacking after the convention.
There’s a couple of pieces still in progress
And some one shot fun
Roman numerals not by me.
Edinburgh customers are coming to me with some great ideas this year so far, making it a pleasure to be back.
Londoners, I have 1 spot remaining for my guest spot at Seven Doors, London in May, email firstname.lastname@example.org for bookings.
